In a stunning move, star wide receiver Davante Adams has formally requested a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. He sat out during the Raiders victory over the Browns, and it is was puzzling at the time due to being in practice. It was then later told that during that week was when he let it be known that it was his "preference" to be traded away from Las Vegas.
The news, reported by many sources up to this point, sent shockwaves throughout the NFL. Background Adams joined the Raiders in 2022, signing a 5-year, $140 million contract.
The 2024 Raiders season so far is characterized by as a quest for identity on both sides of the ball, significant player and coaching dynamics, and a fanbase that's cautiously hopeful yet vocally critical of the current state of affairs. The Adams trade request is just another part in a cycle that the Raiders have been trying to turn away from since last year with the situations coming from when Josh McDaniels was coaching the team.
